Our story

A little birdchanged everything.

A story of Milo, Poppy, and finding our way home.

I couldn’t leave him there.

Milo was just 30 days old when I met him. One toe was missing, and the other birds kept pecking at his injured foot. I brought him home.

Three formula feeds a day, daily foot care, and two weeks of patience later, he could walk and grip his perch again.

Soon, wherever I went,
Milo went too.

Then Poppy found us.

When work grew busier, I worried about Milo being alone. Poppy joined us, and soon they were cuddling close and preening each other’s feathers.

better,
together ♡

They showed me what matters.

A favourite texture. A new toy to explore. Time together. Their little everyday rituals inspired me to leave my job and start FAUNIVA — choosing thoughtful natural-material essentials for birds and the people who love them.

A small beginning

I first met Milo in a pet shop. He was only 30 days old, and one of his toes was already missing. He had been kept with the other parrots, who bullied him and pecked at his injured foot. Nobody at the shop seemed willing to help. I could not leave him there.

At home, our days revolved around his care: three formula feeds a day, cleaning his foot and tending to the injury. After two weeks, Milo could walk normally again. When he flew back to his perch, he could grip it firmly and settle with ease.

Once he recovered, he wanted to be part of everything. He perched on me while I ate, dozed beside me and rarely let me out of sight. Soon there were somersaults, little words and flights back to me. The bird I had brought home out of concern had become my constant companion.

Then came Poppy

As work grew busier, I could not always give Milo the company he wanted. I worried about him being alone, so I brought home Poppy.

Watching them together changed our home again. They snuggled close, preened each other’s feathers and found a comfortable rhythm of their own. Milo had a friend, and I had two very different personalities to get to know.

Learning what matters to them

I bought them toys, watched which ones they returned to and noticed which ones they ignored. A toy they loved one week might need replacing or rotating the next. A new texture or a different place to perch could give them something fresh to explore.

They taught me that looking after a bird means paying attention. Company matters. So does a home with room to climb, chew and stay curious. I began choosing natural materials wherever they suited the job, bringing a little more of the outdoors into their everyday space.

Why I started FAUNIVA

Milo and Poppy eventually led me to leave my job and start FAUNIVA. I wanted other bird owners to find the kind of practical, natural-material essentials I had been looking for myself.

That is still where each choice begins: with a bird’s everyday life. Natural wood, woven grasses and interesting textures, chosen for a purpose, with clear information about what each item contains. A richer little world, built one thoughtful choice at a time.
